I’ve been great and have been busy promoting my new single. I’m so excited!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Dangerous”?
It is a dark pop song that is catchy and vibey. I had fun writing and recording.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
There was a song on the radio at the time that was kind of dangerous and I loved it. It moved me to create something with a dark, dangerous vibe.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes, there is a video. Something completely different from anything I’ve done so far.
How was the recording and writing process?
At first the song was written and recorded in a lower key and then it dawned on me that I wanted a different placement in my voice for the song – something less sultry and more playful. We tried it and it worked really well for this kind of song. As far as the writing of the lyrics, we wanted to keep it vague so it could be up for people’s own interpretation. Recently there was something that happened in New York that was in the news and I was thinking this song totally fits that event, so it could really fit a lot of different scenarios.
What do you want your fans to take away from this single?
It’s a fun song and I want them to enjoy it.
Does your acting influence your music at all? If so, how?
Actually, yes. I tend to get cast to play the femme fatale – the dangerous woman. I used that as inspiration for the song. This song is the closest to the roles I play.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
When I write I usually have the same approach – either we create a track first in the studio and then do the lyrics later, or I start by bringing in a lyrical concept and we go from there.
Does this new single mean we will be getting even more new singles? or even an EP/Album?
Yes, there are many songs in the works that I’m really excited about.
What are your plans for 2019?
I’m looking at options for distribution and publishing. I’m looking forward to releasing more material next year.
