INTERVIEW: Corey Layzell

Hi Corey, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! Thanks for having me, I’ve been great.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “These Hands”?

Yeah sure, so the song is about my wife, who means a lot to me, she is a big inspiration in my music.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Yeah, my wife has recently become pregnant with our second child, it brings us even closer together and therefore inspired the song.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Not as of yet! But hopefully one day, depends on whether your stream it or not 😉

How was the recording and writing process?

Easy! The words fell out of me like an egg falls out of a chicken.

What role does Essex play in your music?

Uuummm,, other than the accent I sing in, none I guess!

How does your upbringing, especially your rebellious side, influences your music as a whole?

As a teenager, I wrote a lot of ‘rebellion based’ lyrics, but I’ve grown out of all of that now.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yeah sure, I’m always writing new songs, I wouldn’t stop even if i was in prison with no arms and legs… I’d find a way.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes! I’m in between moving houses at the moment, so who knows where the road will take me when hit it.

What else is happening next in Corey Layzell’s world?

My second baby! I cannot wait, especially because my son will have a little brother or sister.
