Bringing up new layers to the always exciting premiere Friday, we have the great EaSWay who has return with the release of his new single “Same.” The SOB x RBE’s Drew Banga produced banger blends the 80s flow with the much modern approach to rap music in the vein of Kanye West.
About the song, the West Coast rapper comments,
“ ‘Same’ is a song about consistency and truth. It’s just me reflecting on how in life, we all have to grow and live and learn but the goal is to always remain the same person at your core; at your soul. I’ve always been able to do that through a strong knowledge of self.”
In regards to its Raf Simons + Calvin Klein Jeans Est. 1948 partnership, beginning with Instagram posts to coincide with the album release he adds:
“Calvin Klein is a staple of the fashion world. They’ve survived trends and fads and have been around as a stronghold in the industry for decades. I see similarities in the brand and myself. We both have not changed in search of approval but instead stay the same and consistent because we know it’s good and it’s right. I’m honored that they saw something in me.”
EaSWay not only spits fire but has an incredible story behind him: a recent University of Southern California grad with a double major in social science and neuroscience, EaSWay began producing music at age 13, and headlined his first club show soon thereafter.
EaSWay infectiously shares his unique perspective of being a millennial African-American artist, and incites discussions about social issues ranging from racial prejudice to artistic existentialism. Yet EaSWay is unique not only in his innate rapping talent but also his strong sense of community devotion; EaSWay paints all of his own cover art and sells the canvases to donate to public school Fine Arts Programs.
