Vineyard Cries Share “Holes”

London-based lyricist Vineyard Cries traveled a long winding road on his creative journey. Incorporating cultures from across the world into his syllable-blending and storytelling flow, he accurately describes himself as “the son of Liam Gallagher and Erykah Badu” in Confessions which has over 130K hits online.

With a wealth of inspiration provided by his upbringing in London, a near-death experience inspired him to make the most of his life and with just a “Berghaus Jacket and a pair of Reebok Classics on deck”, he departed for Brazil. Spending two years in the uncompromising environment of the Favelas he found the clarity he was looking for when balancing both the jovial lifestyle with abject poverty.

This diversity is a core factor in his artistic development. The culmination of his musical and experiential influences shape the aesthetic and emotional qualities of his music, making him an artist who strikes a deep and personal affinity with his audience. In his own words, ‘Music is an expressive language which each and every one of us can interpret in our own way.’

Holes is a swaggering and organic hip-hop crossover that takes inspiration from iconic sounds including Britpop and many more. With an upbeat instrumental, this track is subtly empowering in both music and message with Vineyard Cries plying us with his aperture on modern society in both on point rhymes, but also indelible chorus melody.

On the narrative behind Holes, Vineyard Cries states that:

“So Holes to me is my twisted play on society. Basically saying no matter how big and bad you are, I’ll always have one up on you. “Don’t you tell me that the sky is the limit because I came here through the hole in the ground.” It’s antithesis”
