Matty Carlock Teams Up with Jersey Rapper Albee Al For “I’m Still In Love With You”

Born from the Jersey hardcore scene, the last thing you’d expect former Shai Huludfrontman Matty Carlock to be releasing is a hip-hop track. After spending time behind the scenes producing for influential rappers and releasing a single earlier this summer with hip-hop royalty Cage, the singer-songwriter is releasing “I’m Still In Love With You,”featuring fellow Jerseyan and Hot 97 favorite Albee Al, streaming exclusively via HipHopDX. The track and accompanying video touch on the trials and tribulations of love and self-redemption.

Explains Matty of the juxtaposition, “Albee Al and myself came together to merge the two worlds we are living in. Hip-hop birthed from the streets of Jersey City meeting the spirit of punk and hardcore from the Jersey Shore. We made this track to tear down the genre walls.”

Matty is continuing to maintain his parallel (and now, overlapping) simultaneous presence in opposite worlds: coming next year is the singer-songwriter’s debut solo LP, leaning into a different aspect of local sound. Highly influenced by the patron saint of New Jersey, the collection of Springsteenian anthems includes features by Jesse MalinJared Hart, and the musical debut of celebrity photographer Danny ClinchThe Jailbirds will be released in early 2019 – stay tuned for more!
