INTERVIEW: Tungevaag & Raaban

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We are doing good. Was exciting to perform in Tallinn last weekend with Matisse and Sadko and we´re performing with Alan Walker next week and tons of other fun shows coming up.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Hey Baby”?

Hey Baby was written in a couple of days a few months back and we just immediately felt that this is a single for us. It got that hook, build we love. We went to Hong Kong to record the video and we were very excited about getting the song out!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

We sat in the studio together with the vocalist and he showed us a couple of demos. When we heard the track we fell in love with it and started to produce the whole song together. The lyric is written by the vocalist. We are always inspired to work together, there is always a great vibe when we´re writing, it´s such a dynamic feel.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes, the video is out already. We filmed it in Hong Kong, it was really fun! Check it out on YouTube now ☺

How was the recording and writing process?

Lyrics was already written and we sat together with the vocalist in a studio in Stockholm and finalized the song in 2 days. We are very good friends with him, he is singing on our track “Wolf” as well. I think the process is always quite fast and easy for us, when we hear something we like we´re always moving fast to finalize.

What role does the Scandinavian scene play in your music?

We are always supporting each other. We have just done a remix for Matoma, and we will perform as special guests to Alan Walker in Stockholm 23 November. So it’s cool that we can be friends and not just think about ourselves! There is a lot of great music coming out from Scandinavia now.

How do the masks enhance and translates into creative freedom?

With masks we can do so much more than just be DJs. We got a more clear identity and a hallmark. We feel that we are more complete with masks. We´ll go full in on the masks in 2019.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?

When we collaborate with other it’s important to listen to their meanings too. It gives a new dimension to what we do, it´s important for us to always collaborate with other writers to get new expressions, creativity into the stuff we put out.

Does the new single mean we can expect more new material – how’s that coming along?

Sure, we will always release new songs and the next will be out after new years. We are working a ton of songs, mixes, so always on the run to create more and more and out out more and more.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Can’t say too much but within first weeks in 2019. We´re elaborating different options

Any plans to hit the road?

We are planning on a full Nordic tour in late Feb and March. Hope to do shows in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland and go full Nordics. Then are looking at plans to tour Europe, Asia etc during 2019.

What else is happening next in Tungevaag & Raaban’s world?

Already full of plans for 2019. New singles, remixes, shows, tour, festivals and new markets coming. Very excited to share more exciting news soon.
