INTERVIEW: Chris Ruben Band

Hi Chris welcome to VENTS! – How have you been?

Always working hard, I’m very busy. Life is always an adventure. and when you take it head on its full of surprises.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Stomach Coil” ?

Stomach coil is a song that came from a dream i had surrounding the third anti christ. … I use it at a sort of wake up call for myself to remind me what to watch out for and how to live my life. and to always be aware.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Acid and anxiety.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes we are getting ready to start making a video in the coming weeks. its all written already.

How was the recording and writing process?

Whats funny is that Stomach Coil was actually written and recorded in 2012 after the band formed in 2015, we picked it back up only to rerecord it in 2017, at studio g in Brooklyn

What role does Farmingville play in your music?

Farmingville really doesn’t have much of a role in my music. its really the places outside of Farmingville  that I’ve been that have more of an influence on my writing. we do practice in Farmingville though.

How Tame impala and cage the elephant has influence your writing?

More so Tame Impala. But when i was coming out of my teenage years they were becoming popular. I really liked the sound because it was different than most of the rock music that was available at that time. And Cage the Elephant kind of falls into that category but i didn’t find out about them till later

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material- How’s that coming along?

Yes, we have something in the works at this time that you should be seeing early this coming spring.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

At this time no, but stay tuned.

Any plans to hit the road?

That is something we are working on currently. Theres been a lot going and we are still in the studio so we have to finish what we started.

What else is happening next in the Chris Ruben Band’s world?

As we get nearer to finishing our follow up EP to Stomach Coil, there is even more music that we are looking to arrange for a new album. But that is down the road and talk for another time.
