With numerous support for her previous work coming in from the likes of Earmilk, Fashionably Early, and Alfitude, Australian RnB newcomer TRQS has returned with her latest sensual and soothing single ‘MVIII’, lifted from her latest EP ‘One’, due out on the 26th October via Yunizon Records.
Channelling the sultry vibes of artists like Jorja Smith and Kehlani, ‘MVIII’ sees her experiment with a more atmospheric sound, adding layers of production that help highlight her sensual voice and give a much deeper, mood-driven sound in the process.
Over the last few years, the 23-year-old frontwoman spent the majority of the EP’s writing process holed up in her bedroom. With little more than a midi keyboard, she was able to fully perfect her craft, delivering a truly captivating release that shows wisdom far beyond her years.
Speaking about the new release, she said:
“I was working with a producer out of Detroit who hit me up on Soundcloud. We’d started with the pre-chorus melody and built the song around the idea of a ‘mate’ or ‘m8’ (MVII in roman numerals). It’s about a girl who has found a guy she’s really into but he’s only wanting something less serious. She’s kind of oblivious to it until she starts seeing the signs of late night messages and him only interacting with her when he wants or needs something from her”
