According to Lee Child, “Making this record was three things in one for me – first, intense fun with my friends Scott and Jen, who are two of the nicest people a guy could hope to meet; second, a fascinating peek at how creativity works in a different medium than my own; and third, it gives me an album I can listen to for the rest of my life and think, hey, wow, I had a part in this.”
Child, who has cultivated a decades-long friendship with the performing songwriter duo Jen and Scott Smith of Naked Blue, recently teamed with them to write the entire album of songs set in the Reacher-verse. The result of this unconventional collaboration is a 10-song collection that dives deep to illuminate the finer intricacies of Jack Reacher’s character; cinematic Americana tunes with a rootsy, rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Here he is, introducing you to Naked Blue and the album.
Naked Blue, along with Child, will performed a special album release show plus audience Q&A in New York City at City Winery Loft November 1st. The release of the new CD and show coincided with the publication of Child’s 23rd Jack Reacher novel, Past Tense, due November 5th.
City Winery was the first of a handful of selected dates that Child and Naked Blue will do together over the coming months including November 8 at Houston’s Firehouse Saloon and January at The Hamilton in Washington D.C.
