Sophie Strauss Tackles Intimacy with New Video For “Dog Fight”

In her seductive new video for “Dog Fight,” out now via Billboard Magazine, Sophie Strauss shares her brutally honest feelings about a half hearted and lukewarm relationship. Sophie comments on the meaning of the song, “ [it’s] about being put on a pedestal by a dude who has projected his fantasies onto you and about not caring if you disappoint him because his expectations are ridiculous anyway. It’s about feeling okay with casual sex and feeling okay being alone, mostly.”The video takes this idea one step further, depicting the spectrum of intimacy and touch—showing that the line between good and bad can be thin, that the differences are often subtle and only known to you, yourself.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Sophie is a politically active queer babe who shines a light on the pressures of compartmentalization and expectations women experience in order to survive in society. Juxtaposing lush synths against sharp, organic percussion and her intimate vocals, she brings you into her beautiful, tense world. She is strongly opinionated, girly, queer, shameless, self-deprecating and her songwriting is as comfortable with discomfort as she is. Her new album Hard Study, which is inspired by Sophie’s female lineage, is to be released on December 14th.
