American creative whizkid Varien teams up with celebrated gaming composer James Landino for a stunning future house remix of the ‘Delta Rune’ theme tune.
The gaming world at large practically imploded last Wednesday when creator of iconic RPG ‘Undertale’ Toby Fox dropped the surprise news of sequel ‘Delta Rune’. Fans around the globe immediately headed over to grab the free game – including Varien and Landino. The pair went one better though, putting together their collaborative take in less than 24 hours.
“This remix happened entirely organically between me and my buddy James Landino,” Varien said from his studio in Tampa, Florida. “The whole entire operation from playing the game to wrapping the remix was about 24 hours. It’s so fun, and so left-field coming from me (or is it?), but the spirit of music is exactly that – having fun, writing for the sake of writing, and having it come naturally. I had WAY too much fun with this.”
For Landino, this may just be the start of things. “As someone who rarely collaborates with artists, it was awesome to work together with Varien on this track. Originally we did one feedback loop to finish the track and it was sounding good, but Varien’s contributions were so interesting that I wanted to continue working on the track to make it even better. I’m excited to team up with Varien again in the future.”
