Busted Share New Track ‘Nineties’ from the New Album ‘Half Way There’ out on 8th February!

It’s been a huge week for the newly resurgent Busted. After announcing that their new “ultimate Busted album” ‘Half Way There’ would be released onFebruary 8th and followed by a major UK arena tour, the boys powered through three riotous sold-out shows at the 100 Club in a single day.

That relentless momentum continues as they drop the new track ‘Nineties’, which is the first song to be taken from ‘Half Way There’. Produced by the legendary Gil Norton (PixiesFoo Fighters), ‘Nineties’ erupts into life by taking us back to the era of Smashing Pumpkins and Macaulay Culkin, and the carefree “days of ditching school to watch The Goonies.”

A natural step forwards from all-time Busted favourites such as ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Crashed The Wedding’‘Nineties’ features a co-writing credit for their old friend Dougie Poynter of McFly.

“This was the first song we wrote that ended up on the album,” says Charlie Simpson“And from then on, it was like a domino effect – everything else came pretty easily after that. It’s great that it’s going to be the first thing that fans hear because it’s an important part of the journey.”

‘Nineties’ coincides with the news that tickets for Busted’s UK arena tour in March are now on general sale from

myticket.co.uk/artists/busted. Demand is sure to be huge. The band’s three shows at the 100 Club sold-out within two minutes, and many fans purchased tour tickets in advance by pre-ordering the album.

The dates are:

MARCH

23rd – Glasgow, The SSE Hydro

26th – Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena

28th – Manchester, Arena

29th – Birmingham, Resorts World Arena

30th – London, The SSE Arena Wembley

James BourneCharlie Simpson and Matt Willis spent a year working on the album. They wrote more material than ever, much of it at Bourne’sapartment in North London where they spent so much time together back when they first started the band. They constantly revisited each idea to make the album as strong as it could possibly be.

The result is an album that expands upon Busted’s trajectory the first time around. It’s a rush of melody and effervescent riffs as they blend huge arena-filling choruses with the classic pop-punk sound of Blink 182 and New Found Glory. Lyrically it’s often reflective and nostalgic (‘Reunion’‘All My Friends’ and a mini Busted autobiography in the shape of ‘It Happens’), but there are some fantastical flights of fancy too in the shape of ‘Shipwrecked In Atlantis’ and a tribute to Elon Musk in ‘Race To Mars’.

‘Half Way There’ will be released on streaming, download, CD, black vinyl and splattered vinyl formats. The album is available to pre-order here.
