The Revivalists Release Anti-Gun Violence Song “Shoot You Down” – 7″ Vinyl Powered by RPM To Benefit Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund

Chart-topping rock band The Revivalists have partnered with Revolutions Per Minute to benefit Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund with the release of a limited edition 7″ vinyl single of their brand new anti-gun violence song “Shoot You Down.” The vinyl, which features “Shoot You Down” on Side A and fan favoriteYou And I on Side B, is available exclusively at independent record stores around the country, who are being encouraged to work with local Everytown chapters to support the grassroots movement for gun safety. Sales of the limited edition 7″ will benefit Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.  The vinyl’s color holds special significance – orange has been the defining color of the gun violence prevention movement ever since Hadiya Pendleton’s friends began to wear orange in her honor after she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15 in 2013. Everytown is leading a movement of more than 4 million Americans working to end gun violence and build safer communities.

Deeply affected by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida earlier this year, The Revivalists felt compelled to put pen to paper and speak to the overwhelming gun violence problem in our society. The result is a powerful song that serves as both an emotional balm amidst tragedies like Parkland and others like it, and, more importantly, a call to action.

“‘Shoot You Down’ is a song that was written straight from the heart earlier this year,” says front man David Shaw. “It’s an anti-gun violence song meant to bring awareness to a very serious and increasing issue that we currently have in this country. We believe that music has the power to change minds and lives. This is our pledge to survivors and victims. We love you and we are with you. Together we will make a change. Our hearts go out to the victims of the horrific shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh as well as their family, friends and all those affected. We stand with you. Let’s show each other love, compassion and understanding. Hate has no place in our world.”

Today, The Revivalists have also released the “Shoot You Down” Live from Red Rocks video. “We are honored to have The Revivalists stand with us during this pivotal moment in the gun violence prevention movement,” said Jordana Baldwin, Deputy Director of Cultural Engagement at Everytown for Gun Safety. “The color orange honors all victims and survivors of gun violence, and reminds us that more needs to be done to end this crisis in our country.”
