We’ve been gooooood. Very excited to release our music video into the world.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Can’t Stop (The Groove)”?
The song itself was inspired by an Idris Muhammad sample off our Luv Supreme mixtape. It totally grew into its own after we stripped it down to just the bassline and had legendary drummer Timmy Boom Bap do his thing with it.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
The theme is pretty general. Let your person groove and there’s your personal groove.
What made you guys want to do a pretty ambitious video for the single?
We had some shots in mind and a story that mostly went out the window once we started having fun with it. Jeremy and Lester the director made the magic happen.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
We shot in one day on film so time was tight and final decisions were made on the spot. The driving shots were intense especially ripping down the viaduct side by side with.
What role does Vancouver play in your music?
It’s our home. It’s all we know. We wouldn’t exist without the diversity and community in East Vancouver.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
The album exists. Expect it early next year. 10 tracks. Always working on new material as well.
Any plans to hit the road?
Travelling to Montreal and Toronto in the end of November. Shows to be announced shortly!
What else is happening next in Schwey’s world?
Always looking for new musicians and artists to collaborate with. Booking shows, recording, working because Vancouver is expensive and music is yet to pay the bills.
