How to become an Excellent Presenter

The presentation is an art. You can’t just learn it in a single day. Few people are born with it but for others, it takes years of practice and perfection. But still, there is always a room for the improvement. If you are a seasoned presentation or a newbie, following tips can help you to become an excellent presenter.

Use of Right Technology

The purpose of technology is just to digitally assist you. Either its the presentation software such as PowerPoint or the presentation clickers. Use of right technology is very crucial. Make sure the gadgets and software you are using, you are compatible with them. Otherwise, they will just cause chaos.

For example, Prezi is good software but you are using it for a first in your TED Talk then it is not a good idea. Try new software and gadgets in smaller talks first. Same goes for the interactive whiteboards and other useful assistive stuff for presenters.

Research, Practice, Present

This is a third-word rule phrase for an excellent presentation. You must make sure that you have good enough research on the topic you are presenting. Giving someone half knowledge and wrong knowledge in the audience is very dangerous and can be the embarrassment for you as well.

Practice your presentation well, even if you think that you are prepared. Make sure you use the same software of gadget you are going to use in the final talk. When you think, now you can present well, then go the talk.

Content is King

PowerPoint slides are a way to present your content and digitally assist you. A good presentation has a nice amount of content in the slides. Keep the following points while preparing your slides.

  • Follow 5 x 5 rule: 5 Points on each slide with 5 words in each

  • Use appropriate photos but avoid stock photos

  • Use bullets and bold important points

  • Animations are but don’t make your presentation look like some cartoons.

Conclusion

Above are some nice tips for a great talk. If you have few guidelines which you wish to add here, please feel free to comment. Remember! There is always a room for improvement in everything.
