Brother Zulu release “Honey”

Brother Zulu is the merging of five distinctly different creative minds that creates a one-of-kind dynamic. Together they create soulful, timeless songs with a signature production style. With Honey being their debut release as a group, they are currently working with USA based friends of the band Charlene Duncan (Erykah Badu, Andre 3000) and Samuel Aroutiounian (Creative Talent Management, Prince, Guns N’ Roses).

The band is made up of close friends Lawrence, Noah, Max, Alex and Youssef, all living in London. Max, signed to Sony RCA at the age of 16, has had writing sessions and support slots with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding and has also been tipped by Music Week as ‘one to get to the top’. Lawrence, the founding member and producer of the band, is a multi-instrumentalist who has played alongside Robert Glasper and members of Ezra Collective in his youth. Noah is a multi-talented bass player who has produced, in tandem with Lawrence, music for the winning band of the White Nights of Russia 2018 competition. Alex has travelled the world as a virtuosic jazz guitarist, with his latest stints ranging from a cross country tour of Asia to appearances on Made in Chelsea. Last but not least is Youssef, a drummer with influences ranging from Jazz to Rock while also working as a PhD Mechanical Engineering candidate in the process of working on a device to reduce the effects of Parkinson’s Disease.

The band have already achieved support from tastemakers such as Dan Roberts, Tom Robinson and Jess Izatt, they have also been featured as BBC London’s artist of the week along with performing at BBC Biggest Weekend in May 2018 and earning an Unsigned Music Award Nomination plus being named on ILUVLIVE’s Hotlist 2018 listing.

Brother Zulu’s Honey embodies the sweet undertones of the past generation’s soul icons. The track was mixed by Steve Honest (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Fleetwood Mac) and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Ghostface Killah, Ray Charles). Their involvement on this project helped achieve the tracks unique ‘hi-fi vintage’ sound.
