Following their last single. “Cryptic”, VIVIN returns with their new single “Skip the Beat”, where surrealism meets reality in the accompanying video.
Current happenings appear too absurd to be true, (clear lines become blurred) established conditions are on the scrap heap and individuals turn into one big abstract mass – that’s what VIVIN are dealing with in their clip and track Skip the Beat.
A group of people with the same fate at first appear abstract and lose their individual stories to the observer. we’re floating backs up – we’re more than water in the sea. Viewed from a distance we lose the grasp on who is pulling the strings in this hierarchy.
The image of a person standing in the middle of two bordering places looking into the distance versus the horrific sight of lifeless bodies lying in the middle of a bridge. The bridge as a creative medium shows us its two sides, joining two worlds as well as becoming an insurmountable border. Optical illusion isn’t just a tool used consciously by artists but in some cases also by the media.
At the end of the debate – the discussion – the daily news: it’s the individual that gets lost and their faces all differ. Carbon copies of the same image appear impossible to differentiate from individuals walking amongst the masses at first and yet the stark contrast becomes visible eventually.
