INTERVIEW: KINGDM

Hi Luca, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey guys, I’m doing great thank you!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Dust”?

I’m really excited about it and I’m grateful to have my friend Reo featured on it.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

When I first came up with the beat I was inspired by a few relationships I went through. Some of the sounds also portray a thoughtful night ride. When Reo sent me his vocal demo, I was surprised because that was exactly the topic I wanted in this song, the push and pulls of a relationship and the feeling of instability.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Not for this one but a video will be coming soon.

How was the recording and writing process?

I wrote this song with Reo remotely before we even met each other. He was in LA and I was travelling in Italy. Our labels at the time connected us and I sent him the instrumentals for “Dust”. A few days later, he hit me back with the vocals. I knew right away that it was going to be a single.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than on your own?

Yes, I like to write melodies and lyrics with others and I usually prefer to work on production on my own. Definitely two different processes, but I can generally say that collaborating with other people is always more inspiring.

As you keep gaining much success – does that put any pressure on you as you work on a new material?

No, not at all. I actually don’t really pay much attention to what happens outside the studio when I make music.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along? Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Yeah, a new single is on its way, it’s called “Edge.” Lots of music coming next year.

What aspect of relationships will you be exploring on your new music?

I’m definitely going to explore the relationship I have with myself, how it has developed through the years, and where it’s headed.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yeah, either within the end of the year or top of 2019.

What else is happening next in KINGDM’s world?

Working on music non stop – I’m planning to release 30 songs in 2019.
