Hi Tom, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great thanks!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Move”?

It was a collaborative effort from Parker Bossley, Sophia Black and myself. Think 90s Janet with an insane Sax solo!

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I think I had just installed Philips Hue in my studio and the colorful lights made me feel extra extra you know?

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Maybe!? Looking for an idea that blows me away.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was a fun process. Parker and I tried to cut out all the parts that didn’t work, and make it a really concise smash. Sophia’s vocals tied everything up brilliantly.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?

You’ve got to be a little more open when collaborating—and also just give into the idea that’s trying to come alive. Alone I get to make all the decisions, but it’s lonely 🙁

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yeah, I’ve got an EP out early next year. It’s similar to this one and In My Head. More Pop elements and full song structure. It’s been fun!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

It’s called The Times. Release TBA 😉

Any plans to hit the road?

I plan on touring more next year for sure. Will see how everything goes.

What else is happening next in Sleepy Tom’s world?

NBA season has begun!!! And I might make more dance music. We’ll see!
