INTERVIEW: Blast Bomb

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Torben – Not so good, for the shows this weekend I just discovered there´s no swimming pool in our hotel!

Klaus – I was at the gastroscope, Had a camera in my throat. I have been issued the same medication that killed Micheal Jackson…. I´m to scared to sleep.

Johnny – Rock Star problems…. we are good, getting ready for a weekend of Rock´N´Roll, Promo shows have started.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Gambler”?

Johnny – Its a great Rock´N´Roll song, Nothing else and nothing more, Klaus said he had 4 killer songs when he presented this one to us, so now we need the other three!

Klaus thats a lie I never said that

Johnny – have you forgotten our conversation in NoMossStudios ?

Klaus – …

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Johnny – Its based on me leaving my dead end town behind to try and survive in the City of Sin! Believe me if you ever visited my hometown you would understand…. But we did create John Bohnam and Harry Styles was born in our hospital… So I guess its got some claim to fame!

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Kai – The camera did the whole job. sitting on a stand. The result we put together with our close friend Martin to make a funny video. We dont take ourselves to serious…

The single comes off your new EP Burn History & Live Today – what’s the story behind the title?

Johnny – Well I guess I should answer this one! When I was practicing the songs ready for the recording I noticed that all the songs kinda followed the last few years of my life, Moving to Germany, Leaving the old behind and enjoying the new! So I had the idea of the title ´Burn History & Live Today´ because that´s how I feel  like i´m living right now.  Also its got a nice ring to it don´t you think?

How was the recording and writing process?

Johnny – Really Cool we recorded at No Moss Studios, Franz wears fantastic cowboy boots, The studio has a really relaxed vibe, never felt any pressure, made recorded very enjoyable.

Tobi – We recorded live, it was a really raw feeling, We pretty much nailed them on the first take.

Klaus – The Pizza service was really officiant.

What role does Germany play in your music?

Johnny – Beer… its just so damn good here, sadly the tea isn’t up to scratch, I have to get friends to illegally smuggle it in to me, that and Prawn Cocktail Crisps. All jokes aside though Hamburg is an inspiring city to be around. Loads of different styles of music, really opens your mind. But its also a city that can eat you alive if you let it.

Kai – We are Germans we are not inspired, Just depressed.

Klaus – I am only half German… starts singing in Italian.

Tobi – All my inspiration comes from German energy drinks!

Torben – No inspiration from here no!

Johnny – We are a very happy bunch of guys honest!

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Johnny – I find inspiration from real life, People say my lyrics are a little depressing, but I actually find them inspiring. With Burn History & Live Today I really hope its gives anyone lost hope that one day everything will be ok, Took me 32 years to find home, So there’s still time.

Torben – We are don´t restrict our sound, we take influence from everything to create our song, We don´t care about genre, We are Blast Bomb.

Klaus – We actually have no idea what genre to put us in.

Tobi – I try to add as many jazz beats as possible.

Any plans to hit the road?

Johnny – Anywhere that will have us, We have shows throughout Germany this year and I hope next year to bring Blast Bomb to the UK, I´m running out of Tea.

Torben – But you must book a hotels with a swimming pool.

Kai – We are currently also speaking to festivals and hopefully we get a few cool slots.

What else is happening next in Blast Bomb’s world?

Johnny – World Domination, Nothing Less.

Kai – Playing festivals, meeting as many people as possible.
