At an age when most of his peers are gaming or chasing Pokemons, Luca Lombardo has been conquering Hollywood. At just four years old, Luca debuted on VOX TV’s popular primetime TV show, “Good-Bye Deutschland,” a gig that lasted for five years. In 2016, he jumped to the big screen with a critically acclaimed performance in the award-winning “Hanna’s Sleeping Dogs” co-starring Hannelore Elsner and Franziska Weiss. As a member of The National Children Choir, Luca has performed on nearly every continent.
Of course, it was organic for Luca to be tapped to MC and be featured in a very special performance with Germany’s uber popular pop group, Rumpelstil for their October 20 show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
VENTS caught up with triple threat Luca in-between rehearsals for the highly anticipated Flashlight Concert:
VENTS: Our readers remember you hosting GOOD BYE DEUTSCHLAND for VOX TV — share with us about that experience and how you landed the gig at such a young age.
LUCA: It was an amazing experience at such a young age filming in the US and in Europe. The cameras were following us around and I had all this exposure and media wanted to talk to us. So the entire experience was kind of surreal because this TV show has a huge audience. It was also a big honor for me to be part of such a big show and travel around the world and have the entire country rooting for me and my dreams.
VENTS: You have already achieved an impressive body of film work — HANNA’S SLEEPING DOGS received critical acclaim and won numerous awards. Tell us about your character and working on such a memorable film.
LUCA: I played Albert, a character who was the antagonist of the story and it was fun to explore a mean character. This kid was sort of really evil and that’s not like me in real life at all, but that’s what makes acting fun – to explore and learn about other characters. I’m very thankful to be an actor because it helps me deal with normal problems I have in real life.
The other cool thing about the project was the A-listers I got to work with and observe. You really learn from watching them closely and everyone on set was super professional and respected me and my mom. After I found out about the young audience award and all the other awards the movie received I was even happier, it’s a blessing to be cast in a big movie, and it’s even cooler when that movie gets all these awards. So I got to be on stage with everyone and hold the statue!
VENTS: Also a talented singer, you have performed in some of the most prestigious music venues around the world! Who are your musical influences and inspirations?
LUCA: Aaron Carter (Nick Carter’s brother backstreet boys) is one of my mentors and a friend. He taught me a lot about the music industry and gives me some awesome advice about having patience and taking my time with everything I do. He even told me that he sees my talent and that meant a lot to me.I’m also inspired by random architectures like beautiful houses in Los Angeles when I drive along the PCH with my mom– this gives me a calm feeling and inspirations as well.
VENTS: What songs are currently on your favorite playlist?
LUCA: Faded by Alan Waker, Better now by Post Malone, The Weekend’s I can’t feel my face ( my uncle works with the XO label), Justin Timberlake – Say something.
VENTS: Speaking of music, superstar music group, RUMPELSTIL has invited you to MC and perform with them at their upcoming show in Los Angeles. How did this fantastic opportunity become a reality?
LUCA: Funny story actually when I was TV hosting this summer on the red carpet for a movie premiere a producer noticed me there the first time. Then they followed me on my Instagram account and suggested that I would be their next host for this big event at the Greek theatre all by myself! The producers of the show contacted my agent and then boom – next thing I know I’m in rehearsals. The Greek Theatre is a big venue and for some reason, I’m not nervous at all. I’m sure that will change once I get on- stage. Oh and I also get to sing with the band RUMPELSTIL on stage – i’m so excited about that.
VENTS: Can our readers expect your debut album in the near future?
LUCA: Surely there will be an album as it is in the talks wit ha big music producer that i can’t name and i cant really talk about it because its too soon.
VENTS: What song/artist truly moves you more than any others?
LUCA: I would have to say that Michael Jackson is always the King of Pop to me. He moves so well, he dances so well and he sings so amazing. I wish he was still alive so I could possibly collaborate one day or just talk with him.
Hi David, welcome to VENTS! How have you been? I’m hangin’ in. 2020 was a …
