UK designers, Alex Szabo-Haslam and James Lowe have launched a Kickstarter project which allows you to have any album ever recorded turned into a stunning A1 or A2 print. Simply pick your favourite album of all time, choose one of the two available styles in one of the nine colour-schemes, and they’ll create a unique poster visualising your favourite record, ready to be framed and hung on the wall.
So, how does it work?
SEQUENCE is a graphical system that turns your favourite album into a piece of beautiful, customisable artwork. Each bar on the poster represents a track on the album, and the length of the track is reflected by the length of the bar – because every album has a different combination of track length and numbers, no two albums will look the same. The technique works for any style of music or length of album, resulting in a totally different result for each record.
“Sequence is about taking music and turning it into something visual. It doesn’t matter what genre, you can have prints from any artist and they fit together nicely.” – James Lowe
Of course, choosing just one album is going to be incredibly difficult for many people, so the pair have also produced limited edition prints that display the entire discographies of 36 well-known artists, including The Beatles, Wu Tang Clan, Aphex Twin, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, The Prodigy, Michael Jackson, The Smiths, Prince, Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails and more.
“To me, Sequence is a method of showing off albums in an interesting and thoughtful way. It injects colour into space and gives fans something a little different to what they’d normally expect from music merchandise.” – Alex Szabo-Haslam
As with any Kickstarter, this project can only be realised with the help of people willing to back it and for this campaign to be a success and the prints turned into a reality, the pair need to raise £3,000.
Pledge rewards start at £45 for a single A2 album or discography print, £80 for an A1 version of your chosen album or discography, and several other price points if you choose to purchase multiple prints.
SEQUENCE launches via Kickstarter on Tuesday 16th October 2018
