Hi S, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey Thanks for having me. All is well, just trying to stay busy and stay headed in the right direction.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sound The Same”?

Sound The Same is the first time my fans have heard from me in over a year. I was on a hiatus, because, life happens. I wasn’t too sure I would still continue making music.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Just from observing the new trend / music industry. I know the way I grew up and the artists before me. I knew it was time for me to speak from a mentoring/game giving stance. I guess being a little older and wiser does that haha.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Actually yes, Friday October 12th. The teaser was released to my facebook page. Gaining a great response thus far.

How was the recording and writing process?

I dont write too often. Maybe a couple times a year. I usually get inspired and write 10-15 songs in a week. Then maybe again 6 months later. This was no different. I rode around listening to some new beats, and the track caught me. I rapped the verses out for days. Once they were perfect, I started to focus on the hook. I never write anything down, I always let the words come to me first. Once I knew what to say and how to say it, recording was a breeze. Shout out to Kinderr from Toshi Studio as well. He did a great job mixing and mastering it.

What role does Texas play in your music?

It was everything early on for me. The artists and the sound we had, influenced me heavily to the beats I chose, to how I kicked my flows. Now, not so much. A lot of artists nowadays move from Texas to pursue the record label markets. Not to say thats a bad thing, but it leaves less room for REAL Texas music to flourish.

How Jay Z and 50 Cents has influence your writing?

As 2 of my favorite artists ever, heavy. But more so in the way I think of the marketing and planning for my releases, and actually executing. Ive taken patterns of their flows, even the types of production they chose. That was early when I was finding out who I really was.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Possibly. Well, more than likely. I wanted this to spark my bookings. As more production comes in, I will consider which records I can take and really make sense of a new project. For now it will be single releases with the video to compliment them. I am learning that video content is the best thing you can have in this era.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

If so, maybe end of the year, maybe first quarter 19’. Who knows, I am just fortunate to have the luxury of time to do with it as I please.

Any plans to hit the road?

Always. From the 5 tours I have done, its always in the back of my mind.

What else is happening next in Star Music’ world?

A lot of shows. More visuals, More merchandise for the fans, showing up to read to the youth, and teaching them. Giving guidance. I have such a clean background I feel that I could venture into anything positive.
