Great! On tour right now, and just giddy to get this album out!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single Dr Death feat. Dack Janiels?
Well, by the time this runs there have probably been 2 singles since that one, but Dr. Death is one of the main characters in the new album. I thought it made sense for the first track out, since he was the main tormenter!
Did any event in particular inspire you to produce this song?
All the movies, books, and experiences I involved myself with to write this album. It was the first song I wrote for the album , so it helped shaped all the music that came after it.
The single comes off your new album The Asylum – what’s the story behind the title? The album is a concept album, a story about a Asylum gone wrong. An evil doctor, patient 138, and all the other people working… alive or dead… in the Asylum.
How was the recording and writing process?
I did it all in my home studio, all on my own time. That’s my preferred method, I find time constraints and deadlines really hender my creative outlets.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than on your own?
All my collabs I have done I always gets some sounds and ideas from whoever it is im working with. I treat their sounds like samples and make the sound implementing them with my own.
Would this serve as a direct sequel to the previous installment or each one is its own beast?
This is its own project. There are times you could toss some of the tracks on a Monster album and they could fit. Depends how deep you want to go about what other people think makes an album, a album.
What aspect of an asylum and horror did you get to explore on this record?
I got to sleep in a abandoned asylum for 3 days alone, that right there can give you more vibes than all the books and movies about Asylums in the whole world!
Any favourite tracks that you’ll enjoy playing on the road? Where can we see you next on tour?
I have been loving playing the new album more than anything. A Lot of the ‘show worthy’ tracks .. of course sound like me but they have some new vibes, different ideas than some would expect from me.
