Home / Music / Artist Interviews / INTERVIEW: Ben Gold

Hi Ben, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’m doing great! I’ve had a nice break after the summer,  now back in the studio writing the next chapter in my album series Sound Advice!

What made you want to remix Omnia’s “For The First Time”?

I loved the vocal and melody after the first listen. It needed a bit more energy in the production for it to fit into my sets, and I wanted it in my sets!

What was the approach you went after with this song?

To add my production & sound design, also to treat it with respect. The original will always be a great record that is really popular. I hope i’ve done it justice!

How was the recording and writing process?

I started with taking the melody and adding a new sound design (I did this on a flight coming home from Ibiza). In the studio, I worked on the drop first, then the breakdown, then the intro etc. I often work this way. The drop is usually the part with the biggest impact, so I build my tracks around it.

Any plans to hit the road?

After a short break post summer, I’m already back on the road. Coming up in the next few weeks you can find me in Turkey, Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia, Beijing, Houston, Los Angeles, Moldova and London.

What else is happening next in Ben Gold’s world?

2019 will see the release of Sound Advice | Chapter Two & the launch of a brand new collaberation project. Really exciting times!
