INTERVIEW: The Flexican

Hi Thomás, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Yeah great, I just came back from a small Asia tour. I had a great time playing in Jakarta and Bali in Indonesia and Seoul in South Korea. It was the first time for me in Korea. Wow I really like it, people are so hyped up!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Come To Me“?

“Come To Me” is my newest single based on old salsa samples I found. I wanted to make a crossover with the contemporary sound of r&b and oldskool latin vibes.

Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?

Not in particular. I was working on different projects and Feliciana, the singer and songwriter immediately picked this one to work on.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Not yet!

What’s the story behind the title?

The story behind the title is to let your body do the talking. Don’t think too much, feel the moment, come to me.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was special and so quick! Feliciana and I recorded the track the first day we met. I played her some beats with latin samples that I was working on and the first one I played, she loved. We got along really well with each other, and so the creative process could flow.

How did you translate the visual vision of the EP with the music?

The artwork is inspired by 70S salsa Vinyl covers. We went to Sicily to shoot photos in old traditional style. It was the perfect setting. The location was perfect, and the light was beautiful.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes! Amsterdam Dance Event is coming up this month so that I will play at the Studio KOTO Labelnight. I am super excited for ADE. It is always a week of musical Walhalla. It is a pleasure to meet old friends and artist around the conference.

What else is happening next in The Flexican’s world?

I just became a father of a lovely girl. Her name is Zya Sade Bamboo. I am so happy! It is such a precious time being around her and to see her discover the world.
