INTERVIEW: Broken Testimony

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanks for having us and wanting to do an interview with Broken Testimony. I am Nic Delvaux and the band’s guitarist.

Can you talk to us more about your song “Medusa”?

Medusa is actually a song about someone close to one of us.  It’s about being turned against by someone you love and who’s supposed to love you.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Some personal events has happened for the inspiration of this song.

Any plans to release a video for the track?

We are planning to do a lyric video for it.  We have a couple of rough drafts in progress to see what we like.

The single comes off your new album Holding On To Nothing – what’s the story behind the title?

It just describes how said person is.

How was the recording and writing process?

Writing was fun. Usually Judge (vocalist) would come up with riffs and lyrics and show us then we would give suggestions and add leads or change.

What role does South Carolina play in your writing?

South Carolina doesn’t have really any role in our songwriting.

How Tool and Chevelle has influence your music?

Tool and Chevelle have a good influence with bass and being able to let the bass stand out and have a more complex style bass.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Anything that comes to mind that could be a good song topic or catchy we always write down and when we can make things fit we turn it into a song.

Any plans to hit the road?

We recently got a van so we are planning on doing more farther out shows and eventually doing a good run with some awesome bands.

What else is happening next in Broken Testimony’s world?

We have a new merch coming out soon and some amazing shows.  We are hoping to hit the road to support the release also outside of the Carolinas.   Check us out on our social sites.
