PREMIERE: Left Hand Lions Releases “California Flames”

Kicking off a new month and a new premiere week, we have the always excellent Left Hand Lions back with the release of their new single “California Flames,” a song about wildfires, particularly the Thomas Fire that devastated the Ventura and Santa Barbara County areas. It was the largest fire in California history at the time. Left Hand Lions founder and frontman, Thomas Hopkins, was evacuated out of his home, as well as the entire city of Santa Barbara. This is his homage to those who suffered and have stayed strong through the tough times of rebuilding the city.

About the song, Thomas comments:

“I wanted to write a song that illustrated the experience of living through a wildfire. I remember people wearing respirators out on the street, a blood-red sun bearing down, and smoke so dense that you couldn’t see more than 50 feet ahead of you. But while It was a harrowing experience, it was also exciting. This song plays at both of these emotions”
