Can you talk to us more about your latest single Can’t Get You Off My Mind?
Of course, So the track is what id like to describe as a love song infused into a piano house banger!
I tried to capture a euphoric love sensation within the lyrics and melodies so when people listen to it they feel exhilarated yet acknowledge the emotional sentiment within the song.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
It was more of a conversation I witnessed in a pub, Im such a people watcher and I really take in the sights and sounds around me. So I was sat waiting on the table by myself as my friend had gone up to get the round in and I over heard these two guys just chatting away and one explaining how he had found this girl at a music festival he recently had went to and that he was expressing how much he thought it was love at first sight and stuff. So me being me, I was listening away and thought wow, if I can capture half of the emotion that guy just put into telling his friend about the girl he’s fallen for, That would make for one hell of a song!
Any plans to release a music video for the single?
I already have a lyric video released for Cant Get You Off My Mind. But I do plan to shoot a new video for the single in the near future! Hopefully somewhere exotic like the Caribbean because theres nothing better than a free holiday!
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process was actually quite simple, I always either write on a piano or acoustic guitar but for this track it was actually an acoustic guitar and everything flowed quite naturally . I then went onto produce a couple of mixes of the track and worked with a few local vocalists but it just didn’t have the feel I was looking for. So I decided to contact a friend of mine also from Southampton Nathan Jain who has remixed the likes of Pink, The Vamps Ne-yo and Rihanna to do a mix for me. As soon as I heard the mix I immediately fell in love with it and explained to my management that the mix should be used for the lead single and it kind of followed from there.
What role does Southampton play in your writing?
I think Southampton is a hotbed for undiscovered talent. We are kind of over shadowed by London and if you were looking out for the next big thing in the south of course your going to focus attention on the nation’s capital. That being said, there is lots of healthy competition within the music scene down here and it definitely makes you strive to work harder on your writing and producing etc because who doesn’t want to be the best?
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
I absolutely love to collaborate and plan to do so again in the near future. I don’t think its a case of taking a different approach in terms of writing, But definitely in terms of vocals and melodies. I find working with new vocalists so inspiring and Im not one of those producers who do everything exactly the same as the demo, I like to let the vocalist be themselves and really open up on the track.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes definitely! Ive already written a couple of tracks and produced some demo’s for them. They are coming along nicely!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Early 2019 is what I have in mind
Any plans to hit the road?
Absolutely! I can’t wait to hit the road on the back of Can’t Get You Off My Mind. Will definitely keep you posted on this one!
What else is happening next in Jax Delamare’s world?
I’m actually going to visit Nashville in the US in October, Ive never been but Im hugely intrigued by the musical history behind the place and love the rawness of country music! I think any great music producer has to have a catalogue of genres they take from and put into their own writing, Country music is definitely one of mine.
