Today British singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist SKOLES returns with the video for his debut single “Am I Going Too Crazy?” via Stardog Records/Republic Records—watch and share HERE!
Directed by Joe Mischo (aka BRUME), the video was shot on film along the Los Angeles River.
SKOLES tells the inspiration behind the video, saying, “My team and I had the general idea for this video pretty early on in the production process while I was working on the song. It’s desperate and driving, and the song is about the guilt of trying to keep something going no matter how much it was costing me psychologically and emotionally. It had to be raw, visceral and desperate to match that. At first I didn’t want to be in the video, so when Joe Mischo came on board as a director with a fleshed out treatment, I was under the impression that some poor actor was going to be in it, so we kept pushing the creative—making it weirder and more intense. Then a week out from the shoot, the treatment started coming back as ‘Jack sprints after the camera…’ and I realized I was in deep shit. Joe had the idea to shoot the video with real film, which only gives you a couple of tries to nail each shot…but it increased the level of intensity for each take, and I love how it created something as raw as the song. I made it clear that I didn’t want to make a video where it’s about how cool I could look. I wanted the exact opposite. I think we nailed that. I look and felt like shit, and that’s the point. That’s the song. That conflict and self-exhaustion is the whole point.”
