ASHVILLE’S RESIDENT FOLK WAVE ENSEMBLE, EMMA’S LOUNGE, ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF SOPHOMORE LP

Inspired by Appalachian Americana, where Emma’s Lounge came into existence, this “folk wave” band hailing from North Carolina is all about spreading love and energy to each other and their listeners. Founded by the acclaimed indie songwriter Logan Venderlic, the band took full form in 2017 releasing their debut – Heart Heavy – shortly after. Now, Emma’s Lounge is following up in quick succession with the Confluence LP, out October 12th via self-release.

As a songwriter, Venderlic has received glowing coverage with NPR comparing him to The Clash and The Wall Street Journal calling him an Appalachian Tom Petty. While his solo star was rising, he dealt with several tragic losses of loved ones, which inevitably influenced his writing on Heart Heavy, and took refuge in friends and family. During this time, he also realized how much stronger his sound could be with the support of a band and today’s iteration of Emma’s Lounge was born.

Adding Meg Profitt Heatman on keys, Emma Forster on fiddle, Mackenzie Richburg on drums, and Brendan Bower on lead guitar and keys, the band took shape and includes every member on vocals for ethereal harmonies that transport listeners to another place and time.

Using Venderlic’s solo-produced album Heart Heavy, Emma’s Lounge started gaining quick momentum and performed at festivals The BIG What?, French Broad River Festival, NXNE, Soulshine, Meeting of the Minds, Mile of Music and more. After being invited to perform at SweetWater 420 Fest this past year, they were named “The most unique musical discovery of the day” by Live Music Daily.

On Confluence, Emma’s Lounge take unique approaches to different genres by including ensemble melodies backed by striking instrumentals that run the gamut from folk to electronic funk-pop. The record was tracked live to encapsulate what fans can expect out of a live show.
