PREMIERE: Michael Michael Motorcycle Streams New LP
Centering on earworm melodies and earth-worn atmospheres, Bay Area-based Michael Michael Motorcycle have struck gold pursuing a layered (but simultaneously no-frills) sound that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Their forthcoming album, Pacific Coast Mammal Wrestling, was born of singer/songwriter Michael Pannone’s desire, quite simply, to release his music without worry. Frustrated with the yearly cycle that band building in a transient city often presents (destined for greatness, us against the world, wait! someone needs to move across the country, self-destruct button engaged), Pannone began to write songs that reflected his state of mind relative to the time frame in which they were written – something he’d wanted to do for a long time.
Recorded at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco with the help of a close-knit group of bandmates (Bennett Schatz, Adam Abeyta, Tyler Johnson, Susie Chinisci, Jesse Cobb, and Ben Manning), Michael Michael Motorcycle’s debut carefully assembles the carefree: a calculated effort in idyllic chaos.
