Hi Kingsley, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey there VENTS! So stoked to get the chance to chat it up!! I’ve been busy, but the good kind of busy. Just been writing a lot and preparing for creating another record!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Vibe”?

Vibe is a fun, summer jam! It is a feel good sexy song, that is about connecting with someone on a passionate level. You know when you are in that puppy love stage and it just feels so damn good? Yeah, that’s vibing!

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

…… a boy! hahaha! It was seriously one of the best summers flings of my life. And I’m not a sap nor do I believe in love, but god damn! The song wrote itself! He came in and rocked my world!

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Filming was amazing, a bit out of my comfort zone. The last thing I acted in was in musical in high school – I played Monique from High School Musical! It was just myself, Matt – the director, and Chris – the other actor. I think it was a lot of fun because the dynamic of the group meshed really well. We did a lot of takes, mainly because I was talking mad shit to Chris!

How was the recording and writing process?

I recorded all the vocals with my favorite, Jack Kennedy of Zarr Studios and had the amazing, Haley Johnsen do BGV. It’s crazy because this song was added to the EP 2 days before the final mix and master! I got the beat from a friend of a friend and was absolutely obsessed! I actually wrote the words while I was in the studio… It just fell on my lap at the right moment and time, I don’t think my EP would have been complete without it.

How’s your new album coming along?

Ahhh! My new album is in the beginning stages creation wise. I have a shit ton of song I’ve written, now I just need to figure out what I wanna say in the next project. I actually have the  EP artwork and the title of the EP! I am working with 4 producers to create a 5 – 7 track EP of electronic pop.

What role does Portland play in your music?

Portland… oh Portland! It is not a strong pop scene here, so it has it’s a limitations, like there are few pop producers to work in general. Most places want a stripped down set, which is a bit harder when you are an indie pop artist. But it is a great place to incubate, people here love the undiscovered and will go out of their way to make you feel loved. I def am different here, I stand out – which I freakin love! I think the fact that I stand out gives me more confidence in my set, knowing that people like that I am difference gives you more freedom to be so.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Hoping to release my new project in the summer of 2019.

What aspect of love and relationships will you be diving into this album?

That’s a good question, I am not sure – I guess whom every screws me over or makes me fall head over heels from now til the album releases will determine that! You hear that boys? Challenge accepted!

Any plans to hit the road?

I would love to do a European tour with this next release! Haven’t toured and it would be amazing to have my first tour overseas!

What else is happening next in KINGSLEY’s world?

Releasing music videos!!! I am aiming to release a video for each song on my debut EP, I Am Because I Am!
