HDNET MOVIES Celebrates Stanley Kubrick with a Trio of Classics, Plus More Highlights This October

HDNET MOVIES goes all-in on Sunday, October 7, with a full house of card-playing con men in the ‘Raise The Stakes’ lineup. The games begin at 7pE, with John Cusack as a small-time criminal tangled in a web of deceit in THE GRIFTERS. Next, Mark Wahlberg risks his life to win it all in THE GAMBLER at 9pE; followed by Jason Statham as a gambling bodyguard mixed up with the mob in WILD CARD, at 10:55pE. The block cashes out with Brad Pitt as a hitman tasked with cleaning up the mess caused by a deadly card game in KILLING THEM SOFTLY at 12:30aE.

HDNET MOVIES honors Quentin Tarantino with an ‘A-List’ lineup highlighting four of the Oscar® winner’s most eclectic films on Friday, Oct. 12. The night opens with the 1995 collaborative anthology FOUR ROOMS, starring Tim Roth as a beleaguered bellhop with Madonna,Antonio BanderasSalma Hayek, and more as eccentric hotel guests. Then, Uma Thurman is a blood-splattered Bride with vengeance on her mind in KILL BILL: VOL. 1 at 9pE and VOL. 2 at 10:55pE; and sharp stewardess Pam Grier turns the tables on drug lord Samuel L. Jackson in JACKIE BROWN at 1:15aE.

Crime pays on HDNET MOVIES with five gritty capers in the ‘Reel Gangsters’ marathon on Tuesday, October 16. The spree starts at 5:20pE with Harvey Keitel as a conflicted man rising up the mob’s ranks in Martin Scorsese’s MEAN STREETS; followed by Bruce Willis as a gunslinger caught in a mafia war in LAST MAN STANDING at 7:15pE. Then, Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis investigate a string of grisly murders in MAX PAYNE at 9pE; Sylvester Stallone uncovers corruption in a tightknit town in COP LAND at 10:45pE; and Gerard Butler,Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba navigate London’s seedy underworld in ROCKnROLLA at 12:30aE.

HDNET MOVIES pays homage to a true trailblazer in the ‘Kubrick Collection’ block on Thursday, October 18, putting the spotlight on three ofStanley Kubrick’s most definitive works. The tribute opens with the seminal satire DR. STRANGELOVE at 7:15pE, boasting an all-star ensemble that includes George C. ScottPeter Sellers in three different roles, and James Earl Jones. Then, Marines endure the struggles of boot camp and the horrors of Vietnam in FULL METAL JACKET, with R. Lee Ermey and Vincent D’Onofrio, at 9pE. And Malcolm McDowellshines as an ultraviolent droog who gets a serious attitude adjustment in A CLOCKWORK ORANGE at 11pE.

Additionally, HDNET MOVIES will celebrate some of Hollywood’s brightest stars with special birthday blocks airing throughout the month. The October roster includes Randy Quaid in HARD RAIN on Monday, October 1 at 10:35pE; Clive Owen in SHOOT ‘EM UP on Wednesday, October 3 at 9pE; and iconic leading man George C. Scott in DR. STRANGELOVE on Thursday, October 18 at 7:15pE.
