We’ve been awesome as always, Gearing up for our Australian Club Carmada tour
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Lay It Down”?
We really love this single. We worked with Gerogi Kay on the track and she’s become a lifelong friend in the process. She is such an amazing talent and made the process so much fun. She recently flew out to Australia from LA to perform the song at Splendour in the Grass, which was a special moment for us all.
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
Not really, Gerogi came in with an idea, and we loved it, and the song came together really quick. We hit it off musically straight away.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We really want to get over the US and shoot a film clip with Georgi, it all depends on timing and Labels.
How were the recording and writing process?
Amazing. It’s rare to walk into a session with someone you’ve never meet and click instantly, it’s kind of like a blind date or meeting someone of tinder, you never know how it’s going to go. I guess you could say she looked like her photos haha
What role does Australia play in your music?
Australia plays a massive part in our music, without the Australian fans we wouldn’t be talking to your right now. We have such a talented pool of producers creating unique sounds in Australia, and the fans really get behind their homegrown producers, its an amazing culture.
What was it like to work with Georgi Kay and what did she bring up to the table?
I think we’ve covered this question in our previous answers.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
Not really, we always go into a session and just bounce ideas off each other until something sticks, adding someone else into the session just adds more creativity and someone else to bounce ideas off.
Would you call this a departure from your previous musical work?
No, not really. I don’t think we fit into a box musically, besides electronic. Because we draw inspiration from a lot of different places and we have our solo projects, that have their own unique sounds, we try to draw inspiration from everywhere and make music that we enjoy, and we don’t really want to pigeonhole ourselves with genres or previous songs.
As you gain more success – does releasing new material gets more stressful every time or rather the opposite?
We’re doing what we love, how can that be stressful, the success only makes it easier.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Sure does, we have another single in the works for the end of the year.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
End of the year for the next single. Some nights last for days is the title. Some fans might of heard it at our recent shows.
Any plans to hit the road?
We’re just about to embark on a 15 date tour around Australia.
What else is happening next in Carmada’s world?
I think we’re going to take our new live show Carmada by LDRU & Yahtzel on the road. We debuted the show at Splendour in the Grass and it was awesome! Check out the after movie 😉
