Mathew V Releases “The Coast”

Mathew V is a 22 year old singer/songwriter from Vancouver, Canada. After 10 years of classical operatic vocal training, Mathew moved to London at the age of 17 to teach himself how to write pop music.

The openly gay pop artist, writes emotive and powerful songs, having previously been featured on heavyweight tastemaker blogs and playlists such as Billboard, NMF Canada and even cover of the Amplify: Global Pride Spotify Playlist, he has accumulated over 6 million streams, and that number is growing daily.

His music has an obvious British pop and old school soul influence, that is reminiscent of some of the acts that Mathew V has been lucky enough to share the stage with, such as Hanson and Betty Who.

Mathew V’s The Coast carries a 2000’s pop vibe, bringing the melody to the forefront of the music with a catchy chorus, speaking about the single Mathew V says I was always scared to make pop music. I was scared that I wouldn’t fit the mould as a man unless I was singing about girls in the club. “The Coast” is the first song where I broke down those limitations and made music that I want to listen to on repeat.”

The Coast is a way to remind not only Mathew V but the listener, that sometimes it is better to feel the high peaks and the low valleys, rather than feel nothing at all. That’s the human experience.
