Red Gallery Presents Club Culture Exhibition “Fabric”

The Red Gallery and Ourhistory Archives will launch the first of their CLUB CULTURE exhibition series for one evening only atfabric nightclub in London on Wednesday the 3rd of October 2018.

From 7pm till 11pm this infamous venue and UK institution will be transmuted into a live arts-exhibition space bringing together artists, photographers, promoters, adventure-seekers, dreamers and revolutionaries in a collective celebration of music, art and culture.  The exhibition will then head off to tour venues in Berlin, Milan, Ibiza, Paris and Manchester in the coming months.

Presenting the fabric space as an experience opened up to all, the club is the perfect location to exhibit these archives and allowing those who have never visited the site to experience the space in a different context. The four-hour event-based London exhibition subverts the standard gallery format to create a lasting memory and a platform for discussion. The audience is encouraged to take pictures, share and engage.

Featuring carefully selected content from the past fifteen years of exhibitions, the Red Gallery’s Ourhistory Archives boast exclusive and rarely seen photography of some of Europe’s most exciting club cultural movements. From the inception of Tresor and Berlin techno in the 90s, to Parisian ‘French Touch’ and Spain’s La Movida Madrileña. For the first time ever, the works presented here will be displayed and curated as one whole inter-connected history.

Without negating the role of the DJ, these photographs show the importance of the every-day people that participated in these events at bunkers, factories, rooftops, after – hours and beyond. As a viewer you immediately understand the energy that these photographs capture.

Individually the photographs from each of these movements tell an amazing story of their own, but when these archives are put together these images begin to narrate a whole new collective history.
