Hot on the heels of her debut single Good For Nothing in August, London-based singer-songwriter Runrummer has dropped another taster of her upcoming debut EP Soul Wrinkles. Eyes is on streaming platforms now, and is another catchy slice of synthy alt-pop that builds to a massive climax. Listen here
“Eyes is the first song I recorded back in 2017 and it took the longest to finish. It’s about my struggles with sexuality and gender identity,” explains Runrummer AKA Livi Morris. “It’s something I struggled with for a long time – when I was little I wanted to be a boy and never understood why it was frowned upon. I was a huge tomboy, and I didn’t realise I was gay until I fell in love with my best friend. That had to stay a secret for a long time as we were too afraid to come out – which is so sad looking back at it now. The lines in the song about ‘seeing into your eyes’ is me calling out to other people who’ve had (or are maybe having) similar struggles and problems and me wanting to say – you are not alone.”
The Soul Wrinkles EP is set for release on 9th November, and was co-produced with Rob Daniels at the Cafe Music Studio (Jon Hopkins, Brian Eno, Imogen Heap).
