Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Niklas – Hello, we´ve been good. We´re staying busy writing, rehearsing and planning so we can grow as a band.

Cadu – We’ve been great, besides a lot of work????

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Naturally”?

Freddy – Naturally is probably the most lighthearted, good-vibe kind of track on the album, and it was actually purposefully designed to be the lighter of a somewhat darker pop record. I’ve been in and out of love many times and I haven’t been great at handling some of my relationships. A lot of times, what should have just been a one night stand or brief fling, I’ve tried to force into more of a relationship because I’ve been afraid to lose an attractive girl, and always thought I’d have more trouble finding love than I actually have. N- For me “Naturally” is a total feel good song and has got a chorus that´s impossible not to sing along to. And I love what is has grown in to become.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Freddy – Naturally is about not forcing anything, not lying about feelings and, to quote the song, “letting things unfold naturally”.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Niklas – Our manager Renata did great work with finding the location and and casting the girls and the dancers for the video. And the result is great. It was a long and hot day, I think we left from our houses around 3.30 AM just so we could fit everything on one day. It was a great experience and I had a blast doing it!

Freddy – . It was hot! 110 degrees all day and we were working from 5am to 9pm. Of course there were a couple of ups and downs along the way, but we’re all very happy with how it turned out!

Dan – – It was great! We had an amazing team and the girls did a super good job being us. It was so much fun to see them turn into us with all the tattoos and see them move like us.

Cadu – The filming process seems easy when we see the final cut, but definitely it wasn’t, from finding the location and casting and scheduling all those girls it was a big headache, hahah, but our manager did a incredible job and put everything together,  the people from the park were so nice they let us use everything that we needed and the crew did a good job. The girls killed it, besides the weather that was little brutal they gave their best, and we are so proud of it. Definitely was a great day, you guys can see the result on the video

How was the recording and writing process?

Freddy – I wrote this song very fast, it came to me all at once and I think I even finished the production in a day or so.

Niklas – The song grew a lot when we played it in our rehearsal space, and we felt that the recording we had wasn’t really there, so we added real drums and I got to add a few guitars and solo, that I´m proud of. Short but nice!

Cadu – Freddy wrote the whole album and recorded most of it, Niklas recorded the guitars and is still recording some ideas. I recorded the drums (actually at Tommy Lee’s house) when the album was basically ready, usually the drums is the first instrument to be recorded but this first album we sort of worked it backwards since Freddy was basically done with it when we all met.

What is it about the 80s that you find so fascinating?

Freddy – I was a huge fan of 80’s things in my teens, everything from music to fashion to movies and tv-shows. I don’t know exactly how it hit me so hard, but I remember discovering Michael Jackson at age 11 or 12, and I think it all went downhill from there into total 80’s madness.

Niklas – Musically I´m so inspired by the level of musicianship. Steve Lukather has been one of my favorite guitar players for I don’t know how long, and the things he and Dann Huff and the other session guys did are so inspiring. It also feels like a very feel good era for me even if I wasn’t around at the time.780

Dan – I have a thing for 80s synths, I really like to play around with synths when i write music and there’s so many cool sounds used in the 80s that I take a lot of inspiration from.

I also find 80’s art and fashion very interesting, all the funky poppy shapes and colors.

Cadu – Like everything art related, we go through cycles of revivals, right now the 80’s are really big but I also feel like it was an important time for Rock and Pop so musicians will naturally be attracted to that.

What role does LA play in your writing?

Freddy – I wrote every single song except one for this album after I moved to Los Angeles, and many more songs that didn’t make the cut. The first time I ever visited LA was one year before I moved, and I fell so hard in love with it that I knew there was nothing else to do but move out here as soon living here inspires me more than I ever have been in my life before.

Niklas – I don´t know, it´s an interesting city to live in to say the least so it has some kind of impact. I´m trying to write from personal experience and there´s always something happening around here so yeah.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Freddy – The entire debut album is just about finished, and yes the world can expect a lot more material very soon!

Niklas – We have the first part of our album coming out in mid-October.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Freddy – We are actually putting out the first half of the album in just a month. The title is set, but we’d like to be more secretive about that!

Niklas – Yes and yes.

Any plans to hit the road?

Freddy – Year 2019 is tour year for SWAY so keep your eyes open we will be coming through your city very soon!

What else is happening next in Sway’s world?

Freddy – We are constantly filming material behind the scenes, backstage footage, doing tattoos or whatever and a documentary about the band, the music and us as individuals is in the works. We are also about to start pre-production on our third music video set to premiere early next year.

Dan – we’re all writing new music and we have some really good stuff coming up!

Niklas – There´s always something happening in the Sway-camp. We´re working on bringing our live set to the next level, by polishing our live arrangement and adding background vocals. And we may or may not be discussing eventual merchandise…

Cadu – We’ve actually been working so hard to get this album ready and released, after the great feedback we got from our first two singles, we can’t wait to deliver the rest of the work, we feel like people will really get a better sense of who we are and what we are doing and I think they will like it.
