INTERVIEW: Stratz

Hi S, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I am okay, just focusing currently on my new track for 2018 which may be featuring a new female vocalist, very exciting!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Likkle More”?

Likkle more which translates ‘little more’ is a song which promotes giving as opposed to taking I wrote this song when I realised how many people I had around me who were taking and just taking. Instead of insulting them in a track, I did the opposite, I promoted the actions I would rather have seen from people who are around me.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Simple too many people taking things from me and not even in the slightest way helping me with my music or life in general. This gave me the idea to try and create a new goal for everyone.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

It was very fun filming this video as I used videographers close to me and the studio, so it made it feel less business like, and more of a fun group activity in which we get to see more of each other and learn about each other. Another key element to the video I created was the scenes within London, as no one knew I actually recorded them myself ha, so if you recognise the London scenes , I DID THAT!

How was the recording and writing process?

Writing has always been easy for me, purely because it is based on real life emotions and things I have experienced. It comes to my head as quick as I write It on my note pad. The recording process is a bit more tricky, you gotta battle the fear of sounding terrible on the first take and the second and the third, so what I mean is you just gotta get it right,

What role does North London play in your writing?

In all honesty nothing apart from that’s my home, it has been the start of everything, London is London, rough is rough and an upbringing is dependant on how you take it. In my circumstances I didn’t make the best choices but the most relevant ones to how I felt.

How your upbringing has influence your music?

I have and even now always feel alone in how I move act and do things, I like to do it all on my own. This creates my character and how I create music as I don’t feel I need any ones influence or understanding of me, and this is a good thing to be totally honest.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Definitely, I have way too much to say to stop making music, I hope all I have to say is positive but defo will be seeing dance music in the future. Dung inna da beat is potentially the next single which means down into the beat!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Dung inna da beat and no dates unfortunately.

Any plans to hit the road?

No tours scheduled if that’s what you mean! Or to leave music behind its still a NO!

What else is happening next in Stratz’s world?

Work work work, gotta get the bands up, and gotta keep busy, I always need to create time for friends and family so also doing that by limiting my time at work and the studio.
