Ivan Dorn is an artist that refuses to be labelled or contained by expectations. After breaking out with his debut album, 2012’s hugely successful Co’N’Dorn, the Ukrainian renaissance man has established himself as a provocative and versatile talent.
His latest single release is “Opmonis,” a brand new single made in collaboration Ukrainian DJ Vakula. The uplifting song carries a strong social message and acts as a “kick to the head” according to Dorn. He’s convinced that the bubbling synths and hook-filled vocals will help people forget issues in their life, “Whatever your problems are, this will help with them. It’s a slap in the face. Even if it works for 5 seconds, making people forget their problems is a positive thing.”

Earlier this year Dorn dropped the video for OTD single “Afrika.” The inspirational video showed footage of him helping to set up a music school and youth orphanage in the Ugandan town of Masaka through his Afrika Project. This philanthropic streak is a constant in everything Dorn does in his career; he wants others to benefit from his music and also the success it brings. “My goal for life is to leave a huge artistic footprint and for people to remember me for bringing alternative music into Ukrainian culture,” he says. “I want my name to go down in the history books.”
Dorn has also joined the world of TV through stints on The Voice and X Factor in his home country while at the same time pushing his music in increasingly experimental and interesting directions. “I’m a Ukrainian artist spreading my music across the world,” he says, “I represent the country. I am the storefront for the country and its culture.” In addition to working with Vakula, Dorn also has an upcoming single with French act Her and is currently working with Seven Davis Jr on a project in Los Angeles and is also making plans to visit the UK to perform live in early 2019.
