INTERVIEW: Logan Ashley

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “God Save The Drama Queen”? Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

God Save The Drama Queen was inspired by life. We all have had to deal with a drama queen and most of us have even been one a time or too. I guess Dolly Parton kinda inspired the concept of making and positive out of a negative. I just remember her always laughing and saying something really witty and positive to redirect negatives. I just love her and her songs.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

I honestly don’t know if I’m suppose to keep this kind of stuff a secret, but there will be a video and I’m so excited!

How was the recording and writing process?

God Save the Drama Queen was one of the first songs I wrote when I moved to Nashville. I remember being so nervous as I walked into the co write with Claire Douglas And Danielle Blakey. But we all just made an instant connection and the song came together within a couple hours. IT BLEW MY MIND! Danielle put a track together and I threw down a guitar and vocals in her house and that is the actual track I released. There was magic in that recording and I loved it from first listen.

What role does Knoxville play in your writing?

Well a lot of my memories were made in Knoxville so I would say that’s a pretty big role.

How Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Nicks has influence your music?

Bonnie and Stevie are two TALENTED ladies. They both inspire me to be my most authentic self.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes! God Save the Drama Queen is just the beginning. I’ve been writing since I was 13 and I now have a catalogue of music. I swear, the hardest part is culling through it all and deciding which songs are going to be put out.

I get so attached to each song.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I don’t really have a title in mind. Wow. Guess I need to be thinking about that too.

Any plans to hit the road?

I definitely am looking forward to getting out on the road. My focus right now is choosing the right songs for the album.

What else is happening next in Logan Ashley’s world?

A whole lot of recording.
