Hi Kinney, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi VENTS! Thanks so much for talking with me ????.  I have been wonderful! Just came back from dancing and singing around a bunch of incredible and dusty art at Burning Man. Feeling very inspired and excited to share.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Petah Bread Rocketship”?

It’s just something really special that happening in a beautiful collaboration. I think you just gotta listen to it and let it land. I will say my favorite part is that my angel baby niece Hadley makes a cameo. I recorded her playing one day in a teepee rocket ship and Sam Murphy, one of my amazing producers of this track put the sound bite into the track. It is an instant reminder of the beautiful wisdom in the innocence of a child. Also, my family is everything to me so that was such a joy to have her spirit bless this song, she is pretty excited as well. She actually told me she thinks its “my best work to day,” she’s 5, opinion is everything.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes, there is a video in the works as we speak ????

How was the recording and writing process?

An absolute dream from the moment Peter Kastner and I started messing with the chord progression to the two days I spent completely engulfed in painting the album artwork. This song taught me the power of letting something breathe and come to life with seamless flow. I work with an incredibly team at Bad Owl Records and we believe in enjoying every part of the creative process. All of our music is so full of the magical moments shared to bring a song to life. I hope that my listeners will feel how much love and joy has gone into every part of this track.

What role does LA play in your writing?

There is something very magical about Los Angeles. It definitely has played a role in how and what I am writing about. There is always so much potential creative energy floating around this city. Sometimes it can be overwhelming but at this point I am lucky enough to be surrounded by an incredible tribe of creators who help every day to channel all that energy into art. I also feel very lucky to be in a city with such a strong conscious community dedicated to healthy, sustainable living. As I have grown as an artist in this town, I am drawn more and more to write about elevating and uplifting topics that challenge the listener to enter a state of contemplation and growth.

Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, there is so much. It is a journey and I am taking it one day at a time breathing so as not to miss any part of this amazing ride. I am so, so excited to continue share what we have been creating.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Tentatively next month. Keep a watch on my socials to see what track is next ????. It is all part of a larger EP project that will be out in the spring.

Any plans to hit the road?

I will be heading to Europe with the incredible band Karmic in the early spring.

What else is happening next in Kinney’s world?

Art every day. All day. Pushing the boundaries of how we experience music through movement and magic. Oh, and building an umbrella collective that support artists supporting one another. Check out @Badowlrecords for more information about that ????

Thank you again for listening and taking the time to chat with me!

Love, love, love, love, love!
