It’s been a long wait for new music from South African born Yoav and on the back of singles ‘Blood Moon’ and ‘Touch’, his highly anticipated fourth album ‘Multiverse’ will be released on 7th September. Working with Danish producer, Lasse ‘Illinton’ Mosegard, the scintillating album combines the sounds of trip-hop, electronica, the ethereal and the eccentric, resembling the island community of Ibiza that Yoav immersed himself in whilst working on the album.
Yoav, who was born in Israel but raised in South Africa, was previously signed to Island Records experiencing critical acclaim on his previous records. He has appeared on Later with JoolsHolland, toured with Tori Amos, whilst his hit ‘Club Thing’ was played on over 30 North American radio stations, demonstrating the worldwide appeal of Yoav and the excitement for his comeback album. Over the course of his career he’s utilised his international background to blend genres from around the globe, resulting in a unique fusion of sound.
Work for ‘Multiverse’ began back in 2013 when Yoav was rambling around in Asia including Japan, Borneo and Thailand. The irony was that after recording 3 albums and playing numerous tours that centred around performance with loop pedals, he had found himself stuck in his own loop. After a chance trip to Ibiza in late 2015, Yoav missed his flight home and started to take influences from the Ibizan lifestyle, resulting in the recording of ‘Multiverse’.
Yoav explains “I moved into an apartment in the northern part of Ibiza, where I met anotherproducer. We decided to set up a studio in an astonishingly beautiful property and stayed there until the record was finished some many months and countless deep meditation ceremonies later. I feel blessed to have had that time there, I sincerely believe I captured the experience in all of its 4 dimensional explosive colour and reshaped it using sound”
To mark the release of ‘Multiverse’, Yoav is working on an innovative concept with Lo-Fi Concerts where performances take place in intimate apartments, starting with a sold out show in Copenhagen on 8th September.
