Izellah Connelly’s latest single is a refreshing take on the tropical dance style sound that’s been all over radio lately. Once again the young singer, who is also an accomplished musical theatre star, has come out with a track that is sure to achieve what her last single Unbeatable achieved if not exceed that song’s success. It’s a bright and sunny-sounding record, as you would expect with a title like Island Holiday but has a contemporary edge and an exceptional vocal performance by Izellah. This song will do a lot to introduce Izellah to a much wider audience. One of the strongest aspects of this new release is its crossover potential. It’s intelligent new pop that should appeal to all music lovers. And of course, it will reinforce Izellah’s standing with her teen audience and help build on an already outstanding career. Izellah collaborated with US mega writers and producers Michael Jay and Alan Demoss (Celine Dion, Paula Abdul) to create the track and the power of that partnership is evident in the lush production as well as Izellah’s heartfelt and authentic lyric. ‘I’m just looking forward to something new,’ Izellah sings, a precise summary of a teen’s search for something to stave off typical boredom. The tone of Izellah’s voice is pure and ethereal but with enough force to make it an exemplary accompaniment for this sound. Its buoyant feel and reggae-like affectations blend well to create a snappy, sure-fire three minutes of energetic dance-pop.
