Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Morning”?
Sure. Morning is a special song for me so far, the story is beautiful, it tells about a passionate prince who never forgot his princess, whenever he slept she was the protagonist of his dreams, but when he woke up the dream was became reality. The message I want to bring with this track is that even if everything seems like a dream, we should not look at life as an obstacle, but we must face it to make our dreams come true, and that’s what he did! So it’s a beautiful story, his dream has become his reality.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Most of my songs I try to say a message to who is listening to it, you know what? That’s for what the music is for me, I can express myself or even to tell a story, the music can change the world for sure! I see people putting obstacles to simple things, the life is short, we need to follow our dreams.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yeah, why not? If the people wanna see a video they will do
The single comes off your new album #Alone – what’s the story behind the title?
The next single is called “You Left Me Alone” which should be released soon, this was one of the first tracks of the album, that’s the reason for “#Alone”, and the hashtag because this is the symbol that connects us in socials, with that I want to show that the tracks are connected to each other at the same time that they connect us. Morning is not different from that, if the young prince wasn’t followed his dreams he might still be alone.
How was the recording and writing process?
Actually it was made in 2017, when on Saturday at morning I sat in front of my piano and started to play some notes, when a particular sequence of chords caught my attention, then I got my mobile and I thought “ok, let’s record it” as I recorded the melody I got all of Saturday with it in my head. After listening away from my piano I just took a sheet of paper and began to write the lyrics. Then I took the ideas from the sheet and did them come true. That Saturday literally I didn’t sleep, I was so happy about it that I couldn’t sleep.
How The Fray and Bastille has influence your writing?
Oh man, yeah! Bastille and The Fray are great influences, maybe Charlie Puth and Coldplay too, they all use the music to express themselves, the first time I listened to The Fray was through a suggestion when I was listening to Coldplay, since there The Fray has become a big inspiration.
How much did draw inspiration from fairy tales and fiction?
When I was five I loved watching the first “Shrek” movie, there were times I watched it three times on the same day haha. I really enjoyed the story, this castle thing, you know? I can say has a little inspiration in the movie too, Shrek walks a long distance to find the princess who later becomes his great love.
What aspect of loneliness did you get to explore on this record?
I think that having done it when I was alone on a Saturday morning and still telling the story of a young prince who lived alone in his castle makes a great connection with the loneliness expressed in the album title, but at the end the prince gets to make his dream to come true, which is not controversial, in the second verse he advises to face the obstacles and he himself faces them because he made his dream a reality
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes, I’m releasing a single per month, while I’m going to college and creating new relationships within music industry, in the near future will be the time to go out and present my shows to the world, but I believe this will happen very soon.
What else is happening next in Wesley Ignacio’s world?
As I mentioned I’m releasing a single per month, but few peoples know that the bests are in the end, Morning is one of that, great songs are still coming in 2018. Also, I have a lot of fans from Brazil and Portugal asking for portuguese songs, so I’m intending to release an EP with portuguese tracks only. I just can say that I’m not the same since the song “She Loves Me”! And some collaborations are on the way too.
