Liverpool-based singer-songwriter-producer Mary Miller fuses tight drums and eclectic samples with a haunting 50s-esque guitar tone to craft her epic blend of trip-hop, dream-pop and retro guitar pop. Falling backwards and forwards in time through dreamy landscapes, she takes to the stage with only a guitar and a sampler to craft cinematic, otherworldly lullabies. LISTEN HERE
Her debut release, I Found Heaven, hit number 1 on The Hype Machine popular chart within the first week and has now clocked up over 40,000 plays and been added to the Amazing Radio playlist, receiving airplay on BBC Introducing, Hoxton Radio and Amazing Radio, along with slots at emerging music festivals such as The Great Escape, Bushstock Festival and FOCUS Wales.
Released August 24th, we get another glimpse of her forthcoming, empathic Fiction EP with the progressive track HD, the follow up to her heavy hitting debut. Beginning it’s journey in a sparse and moody atmosphere, Mary lays down a personal narrative with her distinct ethereal vocals that sweeps into her forté: a boundaryless crescendo of immersive production, providing another dimension of peaked energy to the track that leaves you hanging off every cadence.
On the story behind the track, Mary shares “HD is about somebody who talks down to you or undermines you but is quick to change their mind and responding to that by getting so drunk that you stop caring. To say you’re ‘HD’ is like you’re on fire, you’re free, leaving your consciousness behind.”
