A moody, melodic blend of synth-pop and alt-rock, HUNGER’s new single “NAKED” embodies a deeply visceral cinematic experience. The Austrian musicians offer heavy beats overtop layered harmonics to give a positive piece of their reality to society’s effervescent negativity in their new single. “NAKED” is now available to download on digital music streaming platforms.
“People tend to question themselves if they’re good enough, good looking or smart enough while being put into boxes from other people,” explains the band. “Constant judgment in our society these days create a lot of pressure, especially on young people.” “NAKED” comments on the all-too-relatable emotions of inner struggle, bolstered by the ever-present feeling of self-doubt in a society where social media forces constant comparison.
Daniele Autore, an Italian producer with impressive credits ranging from Chris Brown to Fedez, produced the single. Jeremy Wheatley (Depeche Mode, Aurora, Taylor Swift) mixed the single, while Joe La Porta(Imagine Dragons, Panic at the Disco, The Neighborhood) mastered it.
Hailing from the idyllic suburbs of Vienna, HUNGER first formed in early 2014. Childhood friends, Daniel Rumpel and Johannes Herbst approached long-term fellow vocalist Lucas Fendrich with the intention of creating a truly dark and cinematic sound. Once they’d developed a batch of demos, the three musicians headed to the outskirts of Vienna, built up a studio in a borrowed apartment and brought their sound to life. They’ve managed to build multiple successes from their short careers including over 2.7 million streams on Spotify, a 2018 Mitsubishi commercial, a feature on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and touring and festival performances with the likes of Alt-J, Phoenix, Feist, Sohn, Milky Chance, The Strumbellas, and Against The Current.
“NAKED” is available to stream or download on digital music platforms. Keep your eyes open for a visual counterpart to “NAKED,” set to be released in this fall. To stay on top of HUNGER’s adventures, follow them on Instagram and Facebook, or visit their website at HungerBand.com.
