KYLYPSO soar to new heights of indie psych, dropping “The Wave” – their third release this year. Listen here
Previous support from Huw Stephens and a flock of tastemaker blogs have set a growing momentum with each release, turning heads and opening ears as the band head towards a solid sonic identity.
“We wrote the song around the idea of turning a ‘sinking feeling’ into something uplifting, as a point in a relationship seems to head for the worse – there is no way around the wave of approaching emotion, so why not try to ride it best you can. We delved into our collections of samples and found a phone recording of a guitar riff which seemed evocative of the mood we were chasing, so pitched it down and messed with it a bit – that gave us the backdrop for the chorus and a jumping off point for the rest.”
Setting an uplifting, driving feel against a haze of nostalgia- suggests a hidden depth behind the catchy melodies, KYLYPSO are setting a strong vision going forward.
In parallel with each song release comes a zine – featuring design work and interviews put together by the band. ‘The Wave’ features a chat with Ireland based producer Nick Rayner and California based filmmaker, Kyle Buthman.
