Keeping up with our premiere week, we got the always exciting emanuelle sasson who has return with the release of her new lyric video for the haunting, eerie new single “it’s not me.”
About the song, emmanuelle comments:
I wrote “it’s not me” when I was fourteen in front of a piano with nothing but a simple melody stuck in my head. I was angry and confused at something that now, is really not a big deal, but it was at the time. I’ve always had a personal struggle with indecisiveness, and it’s not because I’m a Libra (maybe it is, but I’m sure there’s another reason). I have an ongoing internal war between my head and my heart. Do I make logical choices or do I chase my desires? It’s a game if tug of war in my brain, which is why I’m tied to a rope and being pulled by a bunch of people in the music video. Each side of the rope represents my head and my heart. The duct-tape represents how I’m always silenced by my emotions. I wrote the concept for the music video this past May in the middle of my Algebra class. It has such a deep meaning that I could explain for hours, but I like to keep it up to the viewers’ interpretation, because everyone’s experience is different. I love it when my listeners make my songs their own. It brings a whole new light to it.
Shooting the music video with a few of my closest friends was an incredible experiences. They were absolutely amazing to work with; it was easier to have them be a part of the video since they already knew a lot of my personal life. Seeing the vision in my head on a screen was one of the coolest moments ever.
